This is a fun little tribute to murder mysteries and the musicals of Jacques Demy. Although not perfect (the pacing is a trifle slow, dragging a bit in the middle), the eight women are some of the most formidably talented and lovely actresses in French cinematic history who acquit themselves with graceful aplomb.

It's campy and raucous, yet sometimes tender and revealing.

The story line is fantastical, the musical numbers can be uneven, but there are several gems (most notably, Chanel's soliloquy and the ending number "No Happy Love".) Overall, this is beautifully filmed, entertaining, sometimes touching and often funny. A very enjoyable entry for anyone who likes Agatha Christie murder-mysteries or French musical films.

Interesting and well-done history of the Dionne quintuplets and the vicissitudes of fame affecting the fortunes of a poor Quebecois family in Depression Era Canada. Excellent performances by all leads (Jeff Bridges, Celine Bonnier, & Roy Dupuis.) The only thing really detracting from the movie is the historical inaccuracies, refuted in the memoir published by the surviving Dionne quints.

Excellent biopic about the hockey legend Maurice Richard. Roy Dupuis gives an outstanding performance in this true story of prejudice in the NHL and one man's refusal to submit. Inspiring.

Solid, not-always faithful adaptation of the novel by Oscar Hijeulos about two brothers from Cuba who come to America in hopes of capitalizing on the mambo craze. The music is fabulous, the acting top-notch. It is a stylish, yet still affecting piece of film-making. Armand Assante is positively brilliant in this film.

To this day, if you ask me if I like "The League of Gentlemen", I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you. It's a very dark comedy sketch show peopled with bizarre characters. Taking place in an insular British village, the series focus on several characters and their strange interactions. My favorite character was Papa Lazarou.

If you have a sense of humor which borders the morbidly twisted, then this show is for you.

A bit average in its concept and execution, but the charm of Roy Dupuis and the other actors makes this film more enjoyable than one would suppose.

Seriously amazing version of Bach's violin concertos. The pacing is superb, the quality of the playing perfectly sets off the beauty of these pieces. A must have for any fans of JS!

Beautifully acted, engrossing film about an unusual love triangle. Slow-moving, but subtle and rewarding.

Good, solid adaptation of the Dickens classic. Very faithful to the text.

Obscure horror film starring the eminently watchable Roy Dupuis. Despite the talents of M. Dupuis and Rutger Hauer - and the base material of an H.P. Lovecraft story, this movie fails to chill or thrill. Only recommended for die-hard fans of the actors.
